Adopting the sun as his emblem, the symbol of "Apollo" who he associated himself with, "god of peace and the arts". Like Apollo, Louis XIV was a warrior fighting to restore peace in his country. It was crucial for him to establish an image of power and strength, which he expressed in his majestic furniture style and palaces. Elaborate furniture with rectangular forms, square and tapering legs or slightly S-Scrolled fluted legs connected by a stretcher.
