German neoclassical painted green cast iron garden set consisting of bench and two arm chairs. The backs inset with floral-filled classical urn flanked by festooning, downswept arms raised on c-scroll terminals connected with grilled rod seat supported on x-shaped legs joined by stretchers and terminating in foliate-cast hoof feet. The design of this leg would soon be setting trends with styles such as iconic German Barcelona Chair from the early 1920's.

*This late 19th century garden suite was inspired by an early 18th century arm chair designed for the Romans Baths by Prussian architect and artist Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1784-1841). The 1825 design was among the first to utilize the cast-iron process to produce furniture efficiently on a large-scale. Each identical side piece was forged as an entire unit, offering maximum stability with minimum materials.
