A Louis Philippe hand carved alabaster, portico clock supported on four tapered columns to a raised plinth base, each column has gilt bronze mountings, gilt bronze relief at crest and base, each depicting musical instruments. Key wind movement striking bell on the hour and half hour on a bell. Signed on dial, Verte Beavais. (Beauvais is a suburb of Paris) The maker of the clock, Luciene Auguste Verte was famous for having designed and executed the rare, masterpiece, astrological clock in St. Peter's Cathedral near Paris, from 1865-1868.
