A rare German minature patinated bronze bust of a mischievous faun, designed by Hans Schwegerle, executed by Carl Poellath, Schrobenhaussen, Germany. These half-goat half-human mythological creature with knobby horns, pointy ears, woolly curls, sparkling eyes, roguish smile, goat-legs, hooves and tail. These mythological cheerful woodland creatures were notorious for luring you into their festivities with their flute-playing, dancing and jokes. Fauns were followers of Bacchus "Olympian god of wine and merriment". Inscribed on left shoulder HS (Hans Schwegerle, German sculptor and medal maker, 1882-1950).
