Pair of French Louis XV style boudoir or side chairs. Intricately carved frame with foliate motifs, cartouche and slightly arched framed back above a shapely serpentine seat, floral silk upholstery, supported on front cabriole legs and outswept back legs. Rococo design dominated interiors and furniture during Louis XV’s reign in the 18th century with sensuous organic curves, asymmetry and elaborate ornamentation with an aura of fantasy, luxury and elegance, while being intimate and comfortable at the same time. Art and design was influenced greatly by the king's chief mistress Madame Pompadour, a patron of the arts was behind the funding of the porcelain company Sévres. This glamorous design has a sophisticated style and adds contrasting highlights to modern and contemporary interior settings.
