Rare and prominent set of four French Rococo five-light gilt bronze candelabra sconces, sculpted in the Louis XV design, scrolling acanthus leaves arms supporting flower petal candle cups. With the candles the scones are 41" high. Signed with Initial "W" marked on back of sconce.

Rococo design dominated interiors and furniture during Louis XV’s reign in the 18th century with sensuous organic curves, assymetry and elaborate ornamentation with an aura of fantasy, luxury and elegance, while being intimate and comfortable at the same time. Art and design was influenced greatly by the king's chief mistress Madame Pompadour, a patron of the arts was behind the funding of the porcelain company Sévres. This glamorous design has a sophisticated style and adds contrasting highlights to modern and contemporary interior settings.
